Call for Patience among Walvis Bay Patients in Namibia

Call for Patience among Walvis Bay Patients in Namibia

John /Awaseb, the Erongo regional education director, pleaded with parents who wanted slots for their children in other classes other than grades 1, 8 and 11 to come back from January 15th. /Awaseb told parents who were waiting at his office to allow his office handle the placement matters step by step. Some parents had visited his office to follow up the placement issues for their children.

/Awaseb expressed his sincere desire to ensure all children secure place. However, he asked the parents to give his team easy time by ensuring they first admit grades 1,8 and 11. By the time of compiling this report, /Awaseb assured parents that everything was running well.

Speaking to one of the parents, Saara Ekongo said that they heard the plea from the director and would be patient. According to Saara, it was prudent that the parents listen and rest assured that their children would get a chance even if not within the first week of learning.

Patric Simeon who was also seeking a chance for his child said there was no reason for parents to panic as they had been assured of a chance the following week.

Namport recently sponsored the construction of four classrooms at Kuisebmond Project School. Sadly, 12 windows were reported to have been stolen from the new classrooms. Therefore, Monica Gawises, the circuit inspector from Walvis Bay, called for vigilance among Walvis Bay community members. Monica asked the community to consider the children as the next generation and prevent vandalism. Moreover, she sympathetically said it was bad manners to repay sponsors from private sectors by stealing the windows.

Besides, eight classes should be constructed and completed before the end of January 2018. Upon completion, the remaining grade 1 pupils will secure chance to join. Currently, pupils are divided into morning and afternoon classes.

Gawises also spoke about parents who had tried to take their children to private institutions but failed to secure a chance. It was noted that such parents pile additional pressure on public schools.
